There is an interesting history to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling den wagering is prohibited. Eight gambling dens are based in a generally small space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent destination, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing income gained from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of restrictions requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; however, financing sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 17:00, and even though visas are supposedly necessary to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is true of most border crossings.
The initial Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau gambling den, highlights 150 slot machines and 60 tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of 21, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. A total of 150 slots and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machine games and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international resort and hotel complex that contains numerous conveniences on top of the casino, which provides 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight tables.
