There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which casino betting is against the law. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a relatively small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent area, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The Naga casino is open all hours with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of 150 one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred one armed bandits and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and 66 of the common table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel complex that highlights a number of conveniences accompanying the gambling den, which has ten thousand square feet of 130 one armed bandits and eighty eight table games.
