There is an appealing background to the Cambodia casinos that reside just over the border from next door Thailand, in which casino gambling is not legal. Eight gambling dens are situated in a relatively small space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent area, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest wagering centers in Asia. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are apparently necessary to pass, there are ways around this, as is correct of most border crossings.
The 1st Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked barge casino, contains 150 slot machines and sixty table games. The Naga casino is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. A total of 150 one armed bandits and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred one armed bandits and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and 66 of the common tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational vacation and hotel building that features a number of luxuries aside from the gambling hall, which houses 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight table games.
