Like just about any business place, casinos have workers who will direct and administer day-to-day operations. Various tasks required of gaming managers, supervisors, and surveillance officers and investigators do not need communication with casino games and players but in the scope of their jobs, they should be capable of covering both.

Gaming managers are responsible for the absolute operation of a casino’s table games. They plan, organize, direct, control, and coordinate gaming operations within the casino; engineer gaming regulations; and select, train, and arrange activities of gaming employees. Because their jobs are so varied, gaming managers must be knowledgeable about the games, deal effectively with employees and guests, and be able to deduce financial issues affecting casino expansion or decline. These assessment abilities include calibrating the profit and loss of table games and slot machines, having knowledge of matters that are prodding economic growth in the u.s.a. and more.

Salaries may vary by establishment and region. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) stats show that full time gaming managers earned a median annual amount of $46,820 in 1999. The lowest 10 % earned less than $26,630, and the highest 10 percent earned approximately $96,610.

Gaming supervisors take charge of gaming operations and workers in an assigned area. Circulating among the table games, they ensure that all stations and games are covered for each shift. It also is normal for supervisors to interpret the casino’s operating laws for gamblers. Supervisors might also plan and organize activities for guests staying in their casino hotels.

Gaming supervisors must have obvious leadership qualities and great communication skills. They need these abilities both to manage employees accurately and to greet clients in order to boost return visits. Almost all casino supervisory staff have an associate or bachelor’s degree. No matter their their educational background, however, almost all supervisors gain expertise in other gaming jobs before moving into supervisory positions because an understanding of games and casino operations is essential for these employees.
